Do not tell boys like us
'life is simple like ABCD'
When we still stutter on
L, M, N
'cus we're used to
the nursery days Rhymes
ELLI, EHNNI, EMMU.
Do not tell boys like us
the moon is not a picture
of our mothers
and the stars are not the eyes
of our fathers
we were brought up
with the tale of our forefathers
who lived in the
walking clouds outskirt
we were told
they reach out to us
with beaming lights every night
whilst we were taught
how to respond with
" twinkle twinkle little star" .
Do not tell boys like us
to stay away
' from the rain '
do not remind boys like us
how to fly an umbrella
when we've found solace
in the slippery rainy-dance
which flows with
the rhythm of the raindrops
that strikes hard
our tattered roof
squirting water on our bodies
while we run
around the house
chanting "CATCH ME IF YOU CAN".
