LITERARY WAYS OF ERADICATING ADDICTION
We all have bad habits we nurse, we either try to get away from them or get absorbed by them. If they become a normal part of our lives they may become an addiction.
Either way, it is mostly used as a boost in sadness or happiness or to be a general boost up for our mood and we get to remember and crave it when we’re not happy or feeling slightly sad, each of us have different bad habits, yours and mine might not be the same.
The question is;
Is it necessary for us to find a way to end these bad habits or just leave them to consume and solace us when we are in our worse days? Or should we find a way to control it?
When talking of addiction, addiction is getting used to a particular thing in such a way that the bond is so firm and we hardly live without it. Your addiction and mine might be different, I might be addicted to cigarettes, cannabis or hard drugs when my life sea seems it’s crashing down and you might have a caffeinated drink you’re addicted to when you feel the power flying out your body. Or food or alcohol the thing that seems to give solace.
Most of our addictions are bad habits that we hide under our collar, yet they are killing us slowly like an untreated venom in our blood vessels.
Many people have found solutions to ending what they’re addicted to, some gave it a break and some quit but is the quitting permanent or just for temporary situation?. Is it that easy?
The truth is, once we discover this act is bad and we’re getting glued to it, we should lessen the attention given to the act and learn how to control our urges to have that same thing, it’s a bit hard at the beginning that’s why there’s a gradual step to cutting the ties.
STEP 1:
REDUCTION AND BREAK
If you consume a liter of alcohol and some packs of cigarettes at your worse days, you can lessen it to half, a half liter and a half pack of cigarettes.
The next time make it a quarter, and the next just a tip and the next try to control the urge for it by giving yourself an actual break. A wise man once said “A running kid once crawled” which means it takes a gradual step to leave what we’re used to that’s why reduction and break is most important when it comes to eradicating addiction, it doesn’t start a day or become an addiction a day, it becomes an addiction due to persistent trying, so to walk out of it, reducing the quantity of it each day makes it lesser.
STEP 2 :
MIND CONTROL
Our mind gets over things when theres a disconnection with that thing, something like a distance.
Start your own personal life menu, have a to-do list and not-todo , call it a break, go for a month without it, try to imagine a month without it first, find something good to replace the act, if you drink lots while you’re sad, try some movies, some books, some emotional songs or a long walk (with headphones) , conversation with friends, reaching out to people, sharing of burdens.
Something inside kills mostly if it’s been kept to ourself alone and it becomes an onion, getting rotten day by day.
STEP 3.
POSITIVITY;
Sometimes the way we view life affect the way we live it, if your friend doesn’t help when you need them to, don’t think they’re bad or life is cruel to you, listen to others people story, let them share their life history with you, walk with people that have seen life beyond your own perspective, instead of indulging yourself in bad acts just to lift your sadness or to make you feel high among. See life with positivity, not everything that happens to you is a plot of wickedness or life is specially crucifying you, making you go through pains alone.
Have a positive view of your health physically, your mental health with what you let go through your head while you’re down, see life with positivity and see the harms the bad acts will do to your positive life , be optimistic.
Have a plan and love yourself.
